Enjoy the Journey

Last night we went out for a drive. We had a destination in mind but it didn't exactly go as planned. Luckily, the journey to get there was breathtaking. As we drove along we got to see green rolling hills, beautiful trees, and historic homes.

On the drive home we reflected on how our evening had gone. We were both disappointed in the event itself and decided that the drive to get there and back was the best part of our night. So we enjoyed the drive home. We stopped to get something to eat and relished in the fact that we got to spend an evening surrounded by God's beautiful creations.

I often get so excited to reach my destination that I fail to enjoy the journey to get there. There is so much beauty, opportunity, and experience to be gained as we travel along life's path.

In the busyness of life it is easy to to get caught up in rushing around to get from one place to the next. I've done it. We all do it at times. But when we look back on life I think it's the goings and comings that will make up some of our fondest memories. The in-between stuff. The behind the scenes- not-Instagram-worthy moments. I want to enjoy these moments more.

So next time you are driving or walking  around, take a moment to take in your surroundings. And remember that some of the best times in your life will be found in the journey.
